Artist Statement

As an artist born and raised in the vibrant cultural landscape of Seoul, South Korea, my work is a reflection of the dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity, nature and urban life. My name is Kyong Cassell, and through my art, I aim to capture the essence of fleeting moments, exploring the beauty found in stillness, abstraction, and animals.

Growing up in Seoul, I was surrounded by the juxtaposition of ancient temples and bustling city streets, a contrast that continues to inspire my artistic vision today. Through my still life compositions, I seek to imbue ordinary objects with a sense of significance, inviting viewers to contemplate the hidden narratives within the everyday.

In my abstract pieces, I delve into the realm of emotion and expression, utilizing color, texture, and form to evoke a visceral response from the viewer. These works serve as a visual exploration of the subconscious, inviting interpretation and introspection.

Animals hold a special place in my heart and are featured in various works of my artistic repertoire. Through my depictions of animals, I strive to capture their essence, their vitality, and their connection to the natural world as I see them. Whether it’s the fierce determination of a stalking predator or the gentle curiosity of a red fox, each creature I portray tells a story of resilience and beauty.

Through my diverse body of work, I aim to provoke thought, stir emotion, and spark a deeper appreciation for the world around us. Drawing inspiration from my Korean heritage and the rich tapestry of global culture, I invite viewers to embark on a journey of discovery, where the familiar becomes extraordinary and the mundane transforms into the sublime.
